Happy Day!

We had a milestone yesterday...little Baby G is now ONE month old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. Here is an update on what our little girl is up to.

Little girl - you have grown by leaps and bounds this first month. At your appointment you weighed in at 11 lbs 3 oz and were 22 and 3/4 inches long. So it's no surprise that you are a good eater. Even better you go 4-5 hours at night, and let mama get some sleep.

You are a very good baby, sweet and happy. You're even a good sport about putting up with all the silly outfits and hats mama puts on you. Of course we love you more and more every day, and your brothers think you are the best.

You just recently moved to your crib and while you're still not 100% sure of it, I think it's starting to grow on you. You LOVE taking baths now that you can sit in the warm water. I think you would stay in there for hours if we let you.

You are not such a fan of the entire hour of 6PM. I know this because you cry the entire hour until around 7 or so you finally fall asleep.

You spend your days taking everything in. While you are awake you are so alert. You like to swing and play on your baby activity mat. You are a trooper about going from here to there to keep up with all that your bothers have going on. Car trips put you to sleep almost instantly. You love to snuggle up to mommy in the morning before we get moving for the day.

You're an absolute joy and we couldn't imagine life without you. We love you baby girl.

beyond what?

You may be asking yourself that right now - the answer is rainbow - but I'll get there in a bit. First things first.

Hi, welcome to our blog. Most of you reading this already know me, so I'll skip intros and lengthy background info. Here is the quick version. I'm Kel - a wife to one amazing hubby, and mama to three little ones. Here we are.

We are a military family (hubs is in the Navy and goes out on subs) so we move around like gypsies every 2 or 3 years - sometimes even less. Because of this, we rarely (if ever) live near family, and we have friends all over the US of A. So, I decided to start this blog as a way to let folks know what we are up to...if they are interested. As much as I would love to be able to keep in touch with everyone individually, that isn't going to happen, so I figure this is the next best thing.

As for the blog name, I'll try to condense my thought process as much as possible. One thing you should know...I ramble. I apologize now for that now. I grew up in Kansas and until I married my sweet hubby, had NO CLUE what on earth it meant to be a military family. I don't think I even knew anyone IN the military....moving on...I'm sure you are all familiar with the movie "Wizzard of OZ" and the whole "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" bit. That is what gave me the idea for the blog title. Our crazy day to day life is what I found BEYOND the rainbow (rainbow being my non-military previous life). Now that I write it out it doesn't sound as cool as it did in my head. But it's already done so I'm going to go with it - and now you know.

So stick around if you want, and if you don't well...don't. I can't promise any deep, earth shattering posts around here, but if nothing else it's bound to be entertaining for those of you on the outside of the madness looking in. :) Enjoy.

heart.overflowing

I can't believe it's been three weeks since she arrived into the world.

She is an absolute blessing and a gift from God. I can't stop admiring her tiny feet, chubby cheeks, and everything in between. I am in awe of the overwhelming love I feel for this little one, just like I feel for my boys. My heart is overflowing with love and happiness. How could it not be?
Life with three has been an adventure - and I've had help. Whoever said going from "two to three" wasn't a big deal must be an expert at managing chaos. I'm stumbling through the learning process, but love every second. I am so blessed that my parents were here for almost 2 weeks and now my in-laws are here for another. And I've got these two.

Of course no one can replace Daddy (we sure do miss him) but they have been so wonderful. Next week should be interesting - sort of a crash course in having three kids, one parent and no helpers. Pray for us!

However, even in the midst of all the craziness, dirty diapers, 2 am feedings and very large cups of coffee, I wouldn't trade it for the world...or even a full nights sleep. It's all worth it.

Welcome to the world my sweet baby girl.
